I found this really cool trashcan (by Hommin, Hung Ming Chen) whilst browsing Oblingo!. Its so brilliantly simple. Although one would have to stop using the standard black plastic bags that we get in SA. But I think it'd be well worth it.

A great idea! Stylish, clever, humorous and practical - easy to clean!
i love this. you'd have to use it in your bedroom and living room, but not your kitchen, though. you need a lid for old food, i think...
