I came across this quote on ffffound, and although (due to it being on ffffound) everyone has probably seen it, it struck such a chord with me, that I just had to re-post it. And along with this one, I found another great quote, via WikiQuote.

"Is graffiti art or vandalism? That word has a lot of negative connotations and it alienates people, so no, I don't like to use the word 'art' at all" Banksy

Love Banksy and love ephemeral art. Thanks for sharing, I actually missed this on ffffound.

That's an interesting quote. It's sad, really. I guess if you're bright and talented, it makes sense to find a job that pays well. Becoming an artist requires a HUGE leap of faith.

It makes me wish our society gave artists more respect. If artists were paid better (or paid at all), if the image of a starving artist wasn't so prevalent, maybe more bright and talented people would be willing to become artists rather than use their talent to produce advertisements.

I really enjoy a lot of advertising... its a great avenue for every day kind of art/ inspiration/ way to make people think (forget selling stuff!). I'm not sure that's something to hate... although I do dig Banksy ;)
