Milk gone bad

Though I think the milk carton with with that particular stye of illustration isnt quite my cup of tea, the presentation, and technique for showing artwork and illustration is beyond awesome, thats what I find most intregueing about this work by Anatomic Factory.

"The Milk Gone Bad table lamp by AnAtomic Factory with illustrations by Bombo is a follow-up to the earlier Long Life Light. When the Milk Gone Bad light is off, it resembles a simple white milk carton. When switched on, the light reveals the mold that grows unseen inside. The imaginary cartoon-like mold happens to be a lot more pleasant than the real life version and is available in 8 colourways, each with a different personality. The lamp comes flat and is constructed much the way a milk carton would be." moco loco

I'm going to be looking into doing light box like displays for my own work, but most likely will be wall mounted rectangles as apposed to table top objects.

BCXSY Play!, Swing Lamp

I came across this Swing by BCXSY, it forms part of their Play! range,
"a collection of products that was conceived out of a desire to bring a sense of nostalgia and playfulness into the grown-up environment."
The Swing Lamp creates a comforting ambiance through lighting and movement.
BCXSY really do have a great collection of nostalgic/quirky objects, from two sided coffee/tea cups, to a See-Saw Bookshelf.
The making of the "real-world" more childlike is definitely a direction I can see my own work going. Being grown-up can be mightily boring.

Egg Designs website and furniture

I created this website, for South African design studio Egg Designs done in flash. But I must say, that my love of their products goes far beyond just my connection with their site.
Some very cool things, worth checking out. I particularly like the chair design second from the left.
I wish there were more clients like them, very cool content to work with. Check out their site a EggDesigns.co.za.

The Corona Solar Light

"The dish & sunflower metaphor was a natural direction for a solar-powered and outdoor product. We wanted the design to show off and celebrate the technology yet let it to blend into the outdoor environment."

Six months from idea to reality the Corona Solar Light by industrial designer: Shane Kohatsu, environmental designer: Emi Fijita, and prototyping by Jeremy Wilkens (ID Group) & Shane Kohatsu led to this brilliant piece of design being shown as an installation at the ICFF (International Contemporary Funiture Fair).

Where it won the 2007 Editors Award, for Best New Designer.

These lamps are brilliant. Designed by Hiroshi Tsunoda for DesignCode, the principle behind the design is so simple its wonderful, and I cant stop thinking of more applications of the same concept... it's wonderfully inspiring.
