Chokolate Mmm

I've been getting very weary of those "lists" that seem to be flying around the internet, especially those that claim such extravagances as "top 50 business card ideas". For me that roughly translates into "How to get out of doing anything even remotely creative for your 1st year Corporate ID project", or "Idiots guide to copying and plagiarism."
This on the other had I found over at Graphics-Exchange. And I have to say I think its awesome, not in the sense that makes one think "Oh gee wiz, I gotta try that", rather in the sense that it makes ones heart race and thoughts fly through your head like "Fucking hell! I wish I'd done something that cool. Ever!" ... I think you get the idea.
The comprehensive identity entitled "Chokolate Mmm" was done by Bunch Design, for dance studio and agency Chokolate.

Milk gone bad

Though I think the milk carton with with that particular stye of illustration isnt quite my cup of tea, the presentation, and technique for showing artwork and illustration is beyond awesome, thats what I find most intregueing about this work by Anatomic Factory.

I'm going to be looking into doing light box like displays for my own work, but most likely will be wall mounted rectangles as apposed to table top objects.

Papercraft Trabant 601

This is what i got up to during my lunch-break on Friday last week. I found Perpenduum.com thanks to ffffound, and on his blog found his template for the above Trabant 601. Its surprising how realistic the photgraphic texturing make the very simply folded paper. but i suppose thats the theory/practice behind most 3D/CGI modeling and texturing. tu-tu r.t.d. Flower Packaging

I find it hard to believe that the "vases" above (designed by Rock, Paper, Scissors) are actually just the packaging, they look so sculptural, so final.

The design integrates a vase directly into the the packaging for flowers. The concept is by ishii yoji and hattori ayako and it is produced by Suntory flowers, and was presented for the first time during the Tokyo design week. designBOOM

Initially I thought it was a white porcelain base, and clear glass sides, but when I investigated, it turns out the clear sides have a pattern etched onto them, and the base has a natural/fiber looking texture.
I prefer the above picture, looks far more clean, and reminds me of that flower (magic rose) container from Disney's Beauty and the Beast. via DesignBOOM

All Wrapped Up

I came across a very strange thing indeed. I found the PPP (Pink Prank Project) thanks to Kristi Moore at Asphalt and Air. Talk about OCD, but it really does look good. I don't think I'd have the patience to try anything like that.


It also reminded me of a post I saw (above) in August on Amy's blog Tummy-Ache.

Upcycle Design wallets

I've noticed recently the number of "make-your-own"/recycled craft wallets popping up increasing. And after the dbCLay wallets did their round on the blogging circuit, and the many how-to's on how to make a duct tape wallet.
I've found yet another one(Upcycle Design), but this one offers a way more "found" look to it. Its how to make a wallet/coin-purse out of a milk/juice carton.
Which is cool because in South Africa (where I live) there are so many interesting "African" milk cartons with unique/quirky designs on them. I cant wait to give it a bash. Heres the site with the tutorial, Upcycle Design.

These lamps are brilliant. Designed by Hiroshi Tsunoda for DesignCode, the principle behind the design is so simple its wonderful, and I cant stop thinking of more applications of the same concept... it's wonderfully inspiring.
